about
mostly about the blog. but a little bit about me!
what's the deal?
Broadly, the point of this blog is to preserve longform humanity. You can read more about that here (coming soon!), but practically, this means that my blog is unthemed; it is about me and whatever I find interesting at any given moment. As such, posts cover a wide variety of topics including but not limited to hot takes, (competitive) Pokémon, mathematics, what I've been up to, empirical studies, and whatever this is.
I've been blogging on and off since 2024, but I started blogging "seriously" through the Inkhaven Residency, where I had to write 500 words a day for a whole month. To keep up my Foreverhaven streak, I continue to post once a week. Often this is on a Sunday afternoon/evening, which is the Foreverhaven deadline (coincidentally, of course), but I will post at any point throughout the week when a piece is finished.
I think the point of writing is to write, not to produce writing. To that end, I have pretty strong boundaries about when I will and will not use AI, which mostly boil down to "my work needs to be mine". For example, I refuse to use LLMs to write or edit; I would rather painstakingly churn out terrible work than put my name on something that I don't fully understand, even if it is technically excellent. (Call me a control freak, but I think fussing over everything is one of the most important parts of the creative process.) However, I do use LLMs as search engines, among other things. More details on my AI policy can be found here (coming soon!).
You can learn more about me and my other projects here.
support
If you would like to support my work, you can do so at my Ko-Fi. I'm also open to commissions; rates vary from "literally free" to "exorbitant" depending on how fun I think the project will be, how long I think it will take, and other boring things like licensing terms. Contact me if you're interested.

rss
The best way to keep up with this blog is through the RSS feed, which you can find here. Separate feeds by tag may or may not be coming soon; contact me if this is something you would like.
substack
I technically have a Substack. I do not actually write there, but I do send out my posts via Substack Notes at my earliest convenience (which is often late and could be never).
email newsletter
I do not have an email newsletter yet. Bug me if you want one; I'll probably make it happen.
